The US PT boats were available in 3 different versions. The 78-foot-long boat was built by the Higgins company, which is why this series is referred to as the Higgin2 78 for short. The PT-212s were first launched in January 1943 and mainly served in the Mediterranean. The torpedo boats became famous in October 1943 when they sank the German minelayer Juminda.
The kit consists of a deep-drawn ABS hull, laser-cut wooden parts for reinforcements and beams as well as the superstructure made of the proven PVC foam sheets. A set of fittings and armament in cast metal quality are included. Plans, instructions and model stand are included.
The motor, shaft, battery and all remote control components are required to convert the model into an RC model.
We recommend replacing the shaft supplied so that metric screws can also be used, e.g. item mp52152. It is also possible to convert to a drive with 2 screws, but the model will then be much too fast!
