Adler Couch Model Kit scale G

The Adler locomotive was the first steam locomotive to be used in Germany and marked the beginning of the railway age in the country. It was built in 1835 by the British company George and Robert Stephenson in Newcastle and put into operation on 7 December 1835 on the newly opened Ludwigsbahn between Nuremberg and Fürth. The Adler pulled the first official train on German soil, thereby ushering in the country's industrial development.

On its inaugural journey, the Adler transported a group of guests of honour on the 6.05 km route between Nuremberg and Fürth. The journey time was just 9 minutes – a significant advance compared to horse-drawn carriages, which took about half an hour for the same distance. The new railway was received with great enthusiasm by the population.

Significance and influence
The introduction of the Adler marked the beginning of the modern railway in Germany and contributed significantly to economic development. It proved the efficiency of steam power in transportation and promoted the expansion of further railway lines. German industry quickly recognised the potential of the railway, resulting in the development of a dense rail network in the following decades.
Although the Adler was taken out of service as early as 1857, it remains an important symbol of the progress of industrialisation in Germany. A faithful replica was built in 1935 to mark the 100th anniversary of the railways and is now in the Deutsches Museum in Munich.

The kit contains 3 carriages from first to third class with the necessary materials to build the models. The parts are cleanly and precisely laser-cut. The fittings are made of brass and aluminium. Paints/glues/tools are required and are not included in the kit.
