Product information "Rocket Model Kit scale G"

The Rocket locomotive was developed by British engineers George and Robert Stephenson for the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in 1829. It is considered one of the most important steam locomotives in the early history of railways and set new standards in locomotive construction. It is most famous for the Rainhill Trials, a race to determine which locomotive was best for the world's first modern railway.

Technical innovations

The Rocket was not the first steam locomotive, but it incorporated several groundbreaking technical innovations:
Multiple-tube boiler: the Rocket used a boiler with multiple smoke tubes instead of a single tube, which increased the heating surface and improved efficiency.

Blastpipe: this design directed the exhaust steam from the cylinders into the chimney, increasing the draught of the furnace and significantly improving the locomotive's performance.

Lightweight construction: in contrast to earlier, cumbersome locomotives, the Rocket was comparatively light and powerful.
The Rainhill Trial (1829)
The Rainhill Trial was organised to find the best locomotive for the new railway line between Liverpool and Manchester. Five locomotives took part in this trial: the Rocket, the Sans Pareil, the Novelty, the Perseverance and the Cycloped. The Rocket won by a wide margin because it was the only locomotive to meet all the required criteria. It reached a top speed of 48 km/h while pulling a load of 13 tonnes.

Significance and influence
Although the Rocket was soon surpassed by more powerful locomotives, it marked a turning point in the history of the railway. Its design influenced locomotive construction for decades. It demonstrated that steam locomotives were an efficient and economical solution for transporting people and goods over long distances. The principles introduced by the Rocket were further developed and improved in later locomotive models.
Today, the Rocket is one of the most famous symbols of the industrial revolution. An original of the locomotive (or a restored model) can be seen at the Science Museum in London. It remains a milestone in the history of technology and a symbol of the beginning of the modern railway age.
The kit contains all the materials needed to build the model. The parts are cleanly and precisely laser-cut. Fittings are made of brass and aluminium. Paints/glues/7 tools are required and are not included in the kit.
Build a detailed replica of a historic railway model step by step. And at the end, enjoy a successful model train that you can proudly show off in your collection.
